چکیده

Six human subjects performed a modified Fitts' test by moving an electromyographic signal between two targets on a computer screen. For five out of six subjects, the results were consistent with Fitts' Law with correlation coefficients ranging between 29% and 72%. The low correlation of the sixth subject (0.6%) may have been due to electrode misplacement and the adoption of a "strategy" in how she performed the task. Thesis Advisor: Dr. Mandayam A. The Effects of Training the Biceps Brachii Muscle to Failure

An experimental study was conducted to observe the effects on the size and strength of the biceps brachii muscle of an exercise routine that trained the biceps to failure during each workout. The workout routine used ten exercises that specifically isolated the biceps brachii. A series of experiments measuring the size, maximum force, and relationship between force and electromyographic signal ...

Anticipatory Electromyographic Activity and Onset Time in Selected Muscles of Lower Limb between Active and Inactive Old Aged Women

Introduction: The study aimed to investigate the onset time and the electromyographic activity level of the selected lower limbs muscles in active and inactive aged women. Methods: in this case-control study, 28 aged women with a mean age of 61.07±0.88 were selected in two groups of inactive (15 people) and active (13 people). The electrical activity of the selected muscles of the lower l...

Electromyographic analysis of the rider's muscles at trot

The aim of this study was to investigate rider muscle activity in relation to horse movement. Electromyographic (EMG) activity of 12 upper-body muscles was recorded simultaneously with the horse’s footfall timing for six riders, riding the same horse at trot. Data for five strides were analysed for each rider. Rectus abdominis, upper trapezius, middle trapezius, flexor carpi radialis, biceps br...

Rating of Perceived Exertion and Physiological Responses in Water-Based Exercise

The aim of the present study was to relate the overall rating of perceived exertion (RPE-overall) with cardiorespiratory and neuromuscular variables during stationary running with the elbow flexion/extension performed with water-floating equipment. The sample consisted of eleven women that performed the water-based exercise at submaximal cadences. The heart rate, oxygen uptake, ventilation, and...

Multi-scale AM-FM analysis for the classification of surface electromyographic signals

In this work, multi-scale amplitude modulation–frequency modulation (AM–FM) features are extracted from surface electromyographic (SEMG) signals and they are used for the classification of neuromuscular disorders. The method is validated on SEMG signals recorded from a total of 40 subjects: 20 normal and 20 abnormal cases (11 myopathy, and 9 neuropathy cases), at 10%, 30%, 50%, 70% and 100% of ...
